It's All About Playing with EnergyTrue Wizards play with energy - with life-force - sometimes affectionately called just "the Force" (remember Yoda in Star Wars: "Do or do not do - there is no trying"?)
And I hope that you've read Secrets of True Wizards, so that now you at least have an idea, a basic understanding of two main principles: 1) that everything in the entire universe is made out of intelligent energy 2) that you can, and as a matter of fact, always do - influence and shape this energy with your thoughts, because "energy follows thoughts". Before you can play with something, you have to be able to know it is there and you need to be able to feel it, sense it in some way. If you want to build castles in the sand, you have to be able to feel and see the sand in your hands, so that you can shape it in any way you like and create a castle or whatever else you'd like to build. One way to experience your thoughts as tangible is by sensing, feeling and experiencing the energy behind them. In times of Mesmer, playing with energy formed an essential part of hypnosis, of "mesmerism". In spite of many of his great successes, and due to lack of understanding, his methods were laughed away and fell out of favor, as everything that happens in Western view of hypnosis was assigned purely to imagination. The missing link that was left out is a well-known esoteric principle and one of the laws of the mind which states that "energy follows thought". And the truth is that when you are using hypnosis, you are working both with thoughts and with energy. The fact that "energy follows thought" may be meaningless to you unless you have some direct experience of it. Energy is a life-force that animates our bodies, life-force that makes our bodies move, our organs function, our cells become perpetually renewed. We are immersed in this life-force. We breathe it with our every breath and the best place to begin experiencing it is in our bodies. Before we get to play with it and direct it with our thoughts, it's a good idea just to become aware of its existence, to feel its presence. Exercise 1 for Energy AwarenessHere are just few ways to help you become aware of it. One method involves shaking your body for 5 - 10 minutes. Just stand up, relax, loosen your body, and shake it. You may shake your hands as if you just washed them and desire to shake off excess water. Then shake the rest of your body as if you were loosening every muscle and fiber of your body. If any sounds want to emerge, just let them. This process will also help to loosen any stuck energy in your body and to help it flow freely. After about 5 or 10 minutes of this shaking, when you just stand up relaxed, you'll feel the energy in your body vibrating. Exercise 2 for Energy AwarenessAnother method involves rubbing your palms just the way you do when they feel cold and you want to warm them up. When you feel the warmth, the heat building up in your palms, slowly separate your hands and move them closer together, but without touching, and then further apart and closer together, until you feel a slight resistance between your palms. That is your energy field and that's what will form a building block for your thoughtforms. Exercise 3 for Energy AwarenessTo do this exercise, you will first have to become totally relaxed and motionless and one way to do this is through the practice of deep physical relaxation. After you have become deeply relaxed, just imagine and feel that you are lifting your arm, but without lifting your physical arm. Your physical arm should remain glued to your bed or the floor or wherever you are resting your body and your arm. You do not use any force whatsoever in this exercise - merely the power of your imagination. As you hold onto to the imagery of your hand lifting and being lifted up in the air, you will then experience your "energy arm" lifting up in the air and you will have the feeling and the conviction that your physical arm is in the air - but if you take a look, you'll notice that your physical arm is still resting. In different hypnosis exercises, where you are asked to direct your attention to some specific part of your body, you may feel tingling sensation or sensation of warmth or coolness or anything similar - what you are really feeling is the "energy part" of your body. When you are using your mind power to create a change in your body, you are acting upon the energy of your body and then the energy of your body is creating the corresponding equivalent in your physical body - generally by directing the blood flow to the particular part of your body. The principle is always the same - thought acts upon the energy which acts upon your physical body. Exercise 4 for Energy AwarenessThe purpose of this exercise is both to help you become aware of the energy and also of the fact that your body is in your mind, rather than the other way around as most people believe. This is why you can do amazing things with your body - things that will be close to impossible to do for those who are convinced that their minds are confined to the three and half inches of space between their ears. In this exercise you will again relax your body - you may do this laying down, sitting or even standing up, as long as you shift your awareness, your attention from the physical body to your energy body. Attempt to sense how far you can feel yourself to be - where do you feel is the edge of you that you can still sense. If you stretch your mind to envelop your entire body, you may get a sensation that your body is floating inside of your energy field and inside of your mind. Once you have sensed the outline of your energy field, use your imagination to stretch it further - feel it enveloping the entire room, building, city, even the entire universe. Your energy field is very "elastic" and will stretch as far as you can stretch your imagination.
